With the goal to handicap fake news, WhatsApp introduced new feature to stop fake news which enable user to know how many times a message have been forwarded.

Facebook owned WhatsApp is testing a new feature tagged “Frequently Fowarded” that allow user to see how many times a message have been forwarded.

This upcoming feature is presently on the whatsapp beta update version 2.19.80. User needs to forward a received message, open up the Message info section, and the data regarding on how many times the message has been forwarded will be there.

Notably, WhatsApp is adding this feature to help user see whether a message is spam. Message that have been forwarded five or more times will receive a bubble that says “Frequently Forwarded.”

If you install the beta Version 2.19.80 of the messaging app on your Android or iOS phone (via TestFlight) you will be able to see the number of times both a sent and received message has been forwarded.
