The Chinese smartphone manufacturering company Xiaomi and the giant in India market is now officially in Nigeria. The Xiaomi company on Wednesday announced its two latest mid-range smartphones via Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Xiaomi Redmi 7 in Nigeria.
The Redmi Note is a brand series in the xiaomi company just like Infinix Note and Tecno Camon. Redmi Note 7 and Redmi 7 launching took place at an event in Lagos where the phones specifications, features and price in Nigeria where unveiled.
Although this phones have been launched in other regions, but this is the first time of it stepping into Nigeria officially. By the looking at the specifications, features and price, it is going to have upper hand in market in no sooner time as it knocks out Tecno, infinix and Itel in everything thing.
Redmi Note 7
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 was launched as the first in Redmi Note series to come with 48-megapixel, notably it is also the first in Nigeria market to featured the 48-megapixel rear camera. The handset has a 6.3-inch FHD+ Dot Drop Display covered in Gorilla Glass 5 and there is Gorilla Glass 5 on the rear as well.
The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 660 is the chipset under the hood. There is a 13MP camera in front for selfies and is coupled with a 4,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4. Awesomely, the Redmi Note 7 supports the Glo 4G Band 8.
The Redmi Note 7 will be sold by Jumia Nigeria, beginning on April 29. It will also be available at Slot and Pointek stores. The phone comes in three variants with different prices.

The Redmi 7 is just like a younger brother to Redmi Note 7 in both price, specifications and features. However, the Redmi 7 also sports a Dot Drop display but its slightly smaller at 6.2 inches and which has an HD+ resolution. The display is certified as safe by TUV Rheinland and is also covered in Gorilla Glass 5.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 632 which can be seen as a bit drop-down. Xiaomi Redmi 7 has dual cameras, 12MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor. There is an 8MP AI selfie camera in front.
Just like Redmi Note 7, it also has an IR blaster and runs MIUI 10 based on Android Pie. It has a triple card slot (dual nano + MicroSD card) and supports Dual 4G Dual VoLTE.
The phone will be available in the following configurations along with their respective prices:
- 2GB RAM + 16GB = NGN 42,000
- 3GB RAM + 32GB = NGN 47,500
- 3GB RAM + 64GB = NGN 53,500.
Mainly looking at the phones specifications and prices, i smell tecno and infinix losing the market to Xiaomi. However, Nairaland forum members are currently hyping the Xiaomi company on a hashtag #XiaomiNigeriaSaviour.
