Following the recent ban of up to 59 Chinese social media apps in India, The India Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu yesterday launched the Elyments app as the country first official social media app. The app was built by more than a thousand IT professionals who volunteer at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Art of Living foundation.
The Elyments social media app offers features such as content feed, a chat interface and options to make audio and video calls. Awesomely, It is available in 8 different languages to enable foreigners in the country to suit in.
Knowing that privacy is a primary goal of every business, the app tout to provide end to end encryption just like WhatsApp messenger and the rest. Mr Naidu went ahead to say that the nation’s top privacy professionals have been guiding the design of the product and also promises that data of users is stored in India which will never be shared without the user’s explicit consent to any third party.
According to the Indian Vice President, Mr Naidu, “India is an IT powerhouse and we have some of the world’s best-known names in this field. With such a huge pool of talented professionals, I feel there should be many more such innovations coming out in future.”
Upcoming features to arrive on the India’s social media app Elyments are Audio/ Video conference calls, secure payments via Elyments Pay, public profiles that can be Followed/Subscribed, curated commerce platform to promote Indian brands and regional voice commands.
Elyments is listed on the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store and has been downloaded more than 100,000 times within a space of 48 hours. India is the second most populated country around the globe, seeing this Elyments social media app competing with apps like Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram won’t be a surprising thing as it has merited features that backed it up.
