This magisk rooting method works for all version of Android phone (including android version 1 — if available lol).
Just like Windows 8 and above has greater security than the previous Windows 7 and below, Android version 6 (marshmallow) and above has more security. This disable user to easily break in using android apps like Kingo, Kingroot, Flameroot etc. The restriction was just for the benefit of man kind, to avoid user’s not to destroy or complain about malware attacks.

In the other hand, rooting gives you full control of your phone. You can decide on how you want the phone to look and what you want to keep or remove without any security restricting you. In short, rooting gives you limitless right over your phone.
Continue reading if you have read the above and still wishes to root your Android phone. The only disadvantage of rooting phone using megisk is that it requires computer. But less accused that your phone will be 100% rooted provided you followed the steps accordingly.
I will be using MTK device and Sp flash tool as an example in this post. For all users using snapdragon or that can’t use Sp flash tools are advised to wait while i drop adb driver method to root all devices.
- Pc/ Computer
- USB Vcom Driver (for windows users)
- Boot.img (boot.img of your phone firmware)
- Megisk Manager app
- Sp flash tool
- USB cable
How to Root Android phones Using Megisk
1: Firstly, download and install Magisk manager apk on your phone.
2: Download your current firmware boot.img ( make sure it is the same with your phone firmware build number) — you can search yours on hovatek.
3: Place the downloaded boot.img on the phone’s internal storage or SD card
4: Open the Magisk Manager app
5: Tap on the “Install” button and choose “Install” again
Step 6: Select “Patch Boot Image File”
7: Navigate to the storage and select your phone’s boot image that you downloaded earlier.
Let Magisk do the job and patch the boot image
8: Once patched, it will be saved as “patched_boot.img”, kindly rename it to boot.img and Move it to a folder of your choice on your PC (note down the folder).
You need to install USB vcom driver on your windows PC before continuing to the next step — Click Here (ignore if you have already installed it)
9: Now Launch SP Flash Tool — (download Sp flash tool)
10: Scroll down to BOOTIMG and tick it.
11: Move to location side of the BOOTIMG and double click on it.
12: Locate the folder where you copied the boot.img and click on it to load on your sp flash tools.
Make sure that the Sp flash tools is on Download Only option.
13: click DOWNLOAD arrow above, Switch off your phone and Connect it to the PC using USB cable. Your phone will be detected by the sp flash tools, kindly wait for few minutes while it does the job.
Immediately you see a Good mark/sign, kindly unplug your phone from the USB cable and power on your phone.
Download and install Root checker, open it and Grant any permission that pops up. Once you see “Congratulations, Root access was properly installed in your device“, hurry you made it! You are now rooted.
By following this method, you won’t loss a single file from your phone and it is also the easiest way to root all MTK devices.
